Cow Harbor was renamed Northport in 1837  This is a painting by Edward Lange. He did over 100 paintings of the area between 1871and 1889. This is a view of the south side of Main Street, the building on the right row of buildings in the picture is at the location where Skippers is today. East Northport LIRR Station as it looked in 1890 Trolley in downtown Northport as of 1890 Five corners of Northport village in 1890's Although the Trolley was electric, note that horse drawn wagons still appear to be common. The wood frame building on the right with the triangular window at the top was one of the four buildings destroyed in a fire in 1930. The site is now occupied by Byers Realtors. The fire destroyed the four buildings up to (but not including) the old 5&10 building, (GAP for the younger crowd). Northport Trolley on a snow covered street in the year 1905.
